Brulov acted perfectly in a genre of a ceremonial portrait - picture, in which one subsequently did not know himself equal. The picture Lady on Horseback, embodying Jhovanna Pachini (pupil of countess U. P. Samoilova), - expresses his love to countess which he painted repeatedly. The female horse portrait in past is member of individual life of the aristocratic society. The gust is done appreciable in trembling branch on the sky, fluttering shawl of horsewoman. The horsewoman appeared like flying angel, the horse reared under her, but she was quiet and imperturbable. The picture of violent motion was a courageous innovation in Russian ceremonial portrait.
