The present album is the most exhaustive work dedicated to the pictorial heritage of the great Russian painter, scientist, explorer, thinker and public figure, Nicholas Roerich (1874–1947). The publication of such a considerable album in two languages — Russian and English — is of current importance due to the growing interest in the painter’s art in the world. The book is subdivided into chapters according to subject areas, and is richly illustrated (735 plates). These are the works from the largest museums of Russia, the Nicholas Roerich Museum in New York, and museum and private collections of India and the USA. The author of the texts is a well-known researcher of Roerich’s art, Yevgeny Matochkin. The publication of the second volume is planned as a detailed catalogue.
